A CHARITABLE scheme which encourages people to shop locally has been introduced to Perth.
Peel2Save, which raises cash for groups such as youth groups, football teams, schools and sports clubs, has been introduced after securing major success elsewhere in the UK.
The credit card-sized Peel2Save contains 64 individual peel-off vouchers, each containing an offer from local business. The card has a purchase price of £10 and generates £5 for the good cause.
The first Perth Peel2Save card is now available and is valid until the end of August next year. It contains offers from 27 different companies, with a total value of around £400.
In addition to The Bothy, leading local businesses supporting their community in this way include 63 Tay Street restaurant, Active Kids, Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, Banks of Perth (Outdoor Clothing) and Craigie Hill Golf Club
Andy Taylor, from Peel2Save Perth, said: “Peel2Save is a fantastic initiative and we are aiming at helping to raise at least £50,000 for local good causes over the next 12 months. A similar scheme has been running very successfully in the US for many years where it has raised millions of dollars. It’s a real community initiative that benefits local fundraisers, local businesses and local consumers.
“Everyone who buys a card will not only be helping good causes and supporting local businesses, but they will recover the cost by simply redeeming a couple of vouchers.”
Peel2Save has targeted raising around £2.5 million for good causes throughout UK over the next year.
