LIEUTENANT General Sir Alistair Irwin will give a lecture at Perth’s Balhousie Castle on Thursday.
The chairman of the Black Watch Castle and Museum Trust and president of the venue’s Friends group will talk on the subject of ‘The Commonwealth War Graves Commission: Past and Present’.
Recounting the organisation’s history, Lt Gen Irwin will conclude with the story of the recent discovery of massed graves near Fromelles, France, and the construction of the first completely new CWGC cemetery for 50 years.
The Friends organisation supports the work of the castle and museum staff to preserve the Watch’s legacy and its Balhousie home.
The venue for the lecture is Perth Museum and Art Gallery. The evening will begin at 7pm with a wine reception, with the lecture at 7.30pm.
