Graham joins Alzheimer’s challenge

BIG hearted staff from the Dulux Decorators Centre in Perth teamed-up with colleagues from across Scotland for a 14-mile charity hike.

Volunteers from across the region walked from the firm’s Edinburgh West store to the Forth Bridge, to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer’s Society – the company’s chosen charities.

Graham McMenemy, manager of the Perth store, joined nine of his colleagues to complete the trek in under five hours, raising more than £2000 for the worthwhile charity, which supports people living with dementia and research into the condition.

Graham said: “The whole team had a wonderful time during the walk and we received fantastic support from our customers and the local community.

“It was tough going at times, but doubling our original fundraising target of £1000 to raise over £2000 for Alzheimer Scotland and Alzheimer’s Society made all the aching joints and muscles worth it!

“We would like to thank our colleagues, friends, families and customers for their generosity – the money raised will go a long way in supporting the charities in their amazing work.”

Alistair Fergusson, corporate and trusts fundraising manager for Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We want to thank all the staff.

“To take part in an event like this requires commitment and dedication, and we are so grateful to everyone who took part.”

Dulux Decorator Centres is aiming to raise at least £100,000 by April 2013 for Alzheimer charities.
