Further strengthening the Bridge of Earn school’s senior management team, music director Andrew McGarva has been appointed to the new post of prep school deputy.
Elsewhere, Kilgraston pupils have achieved their best results to date with an exceptional 57 per cent passes at A grade (95 per cent A-C) for Higher and an outstanding 54 per cent A grade passes (92 per cent A-C) at Advanced Higher.
The Standard Grade results were also excellent with 88 per cent Credit (Grade 1-2). These results are among the best in Scotland and a testament to the work of the girls and the staff.
Kilgraston has recently received praise for achieving the best performance in a Girls’ School Association analysis. The in-depth survey of 47 leading girls’ boarding schools in the United Kingdom identified Kilgraston as achieving the highest growth rate over the last five years (50.4 per cent). Kilgraston was one of only 13 of the schools to be operating boarding at full capacity.
Principal, Mr Michael Farmer said: “I am delighted by our performance and although there is pressure for places, we believe that we are now at the right size and have no plans for further expansion.”
Following on from the recent multi-million pound investment in Sport and the Arts, Kilgraston has announced plans to build a new Science Centre. Building will commence in the spring and once complete, the old laboratories will be incorporated into an enhanced Sixth Form Centre with state of the art study facilities.
Kilgraston is Scotland’s largest girls’ boarding school and set in 54 acres of beautiful parkland in Bridge of Earn, just south of Perth. As a member of the International Network of Sacred Heart Schools, the 340 pupils benefit from cultural links with countries such as Mexico, Austria, USA and Spain.
