Natural art exhibition at Birnam

A NEW free exhibition is showing at the Birnam Arts Centre.

‘Natural Connections’, which runs daily until October 28 from 10am-5pm, comprises work by Perthshire Visual Arts Forum (PVAF) members on a theme focusing on the way all things natural and living relate to and depend on each other.

Reflecting the broad scope of visual practice of the PVAF members, the exhibition features a diversity of media, from paintings to video.

Among the highlights are Su Grierson, Tricia Gow and Marilyn Caddell showing their collaborative video work ‘Fungus Dyes’, which uses coloured dyes created from certain species of Scottish fungi.

‘Natural Connections’ was officially launched by artist Lys Hansen to coincide with the annual PVAF conference.

Artist delegates were inspired by the talks by Pauline Burbidge and Charles Poulsen on their rural art practice, as well as Angus Farquhar who gave an appraisal of creating major art projects in the Scottish landscape.
