Black Magic to cast spell at Birnam

ATHOLL Players and Birnam Institute Players open their hilarious new spoof on Shakespeare’s Scottish play tonight.

What could go wrong with a performance of Macbeth by the Farndale Avenue Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society for the local Festival?

The answer is almost everything. Despite nine months of rehearsals the curse of the Scottish play seems to have doomed them to disaster.

One actress has broken her leg, Lady Macbeth has disappeared and her place has to be taken by a man, and props develop a life of their own.

Performances are at Birnam Institute tonight and tomorrow at 8pm, and in Pitlochry Town Hall next Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm.

Tickets for Birnam from the venue, for Pitlochry from Davidson’s the Chemist, Atholl Leisure Centre or Iain McEwan on 01796 472188.
