Underwater explorer to dive in to geographical discussion in Perth

INTREPID cave diver Phil Short is to give a talk on his adventures when he visits Perth next week.

Hugely respected in the diving world, Short started learning his trade in 1990, before qualifying as a PADI instructor and teaching full-time the following year.

Having devoted all his free time to developing his technical skills, Short began to use them for cave diving on expeditions to Mallorca, France, Spain, Russia and Greece.

At the same time, he began teaching open and closed circuit technical diving full-time.

Over the years, he has been involved in film projects for ITV, BBC and Channel 4 on the M1 submarine, the shipwrecks from the battle of Jutland and cave diving projects in Northern Spain.

He has also taken part in several shipwreck search projects in the Western Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico.

Short has logged over 5000 dives in caves and open water.

His talk takes place next Tuesday (December 13) in Perth Concert Hall at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £8 for adults and are free for under 18s, students and Royal Scottish Geographical Society members.
