PLANS to demolish the old Alyth Guide Hall and build a modern facility are in the pipeline – again.
Perth and Kinross Council’s planners already approved the removal and replacement of the vintage building at New Alyth Road in August last year.
But fresh plans – drafted by local architects, JWM Design, have been lodged with PKC this week.
The previous hall blueprint was developed by Brechin-based firm, AB Roger and Young, which was behind the drawings submitted in 2010.
“It’s just a change of design, there’s no story in this,” insisted a JWM Design staffer when contacted yesterday.
“They just decided to go with a local architectures practice.”
As with previous plans, the proposed two-storey hall is located at the existing Alyth Friends of Guiding site, a 550 sqm fenced and walled corner block directly opposite Mornity Cottage.
Submitted by Hamish McKelvie, the straightforward application is likely to be approved with similar standard conditions to those imposed on the 2010 plans.
In a letter of support for plans lodged last year, Alyth Community Council chairman Stuart Clark said his organisation raised no objection.
“At our weekly meeting last night it was agreed that we wholeheartedly support this project and wish our local Guides, Brownies and Rainbows well with their new hall,” he wrote.
