Perth comic Fred MacAulay hogged the Hogmanay schedules, popping-up on separate programmes on rival channels.
The BBC Scotland presenter, who has signed a new two-year deal to host his popular morning show, spearheaded two episodes of the Beeb’s panel show ‘Scots on the Box’, and on STV his ‘West Highland Wahey’ enjoyed an extended profile.
The one-time Perth Academy pupil, who put in an appearance at his old school’s recent birthday bash at Perth Concert Hall, admitted the fundraiser for the STV appeal, where he was joined for segments of the walk by celebrity guests, was a highlight of 2012.
But he confessed the idea of doing impromptu gigs along the way seriously examined his repertoire. “Everyone walks it at the same pace so I had the same audience every night!” he recalled. The 55-year-old one-time accountant rose to the challenge. But he was in more familiar environment chairing the panel game, having guested on Mock the Week, QI and Have I Got News for You.
