A TEENAGE girl who took part in an assault which left a man unconscious – and with serious head injuries – has been ordered to undertake alcohol and anger management counselling.
The conditions, part of a 12-month probation order, were imposed on 16-year-old Marie Gibson, of Angus Road, Scone, when she appeared for sentence at Perth Sheriff Court this week.
Sentence on her had been deferred for a psychiatric report.
She pled guilty earlier to kicking a man repeatedly on the head, to his severe injury, in Scone Public Park, Abbey Road, on September 8.
A co-accused, Lee Marshall (20), of Mansfield Road, Scone, was previously ordered to carry out 160 hours of community service, a direct alternative to prison.
He will also have to pay the young man £600 in compensation for what Sheriff Robert McCreadie described as “a serious and disgraceful incident.”
Marshall admitted punching the man in the face, knocking him to the ground and causing him to strike his head, to his severe injury, in the park.
The court was told that the victim spent four days in Perth Royal Infirmary after the attack. He suffered a two-centimetre laceration to the back of his head when he hit the ground.
Solicitor Alison McKay, for Gibson, said she had mental health difficulties.
