Ex-councillor dies aged 93

FORMER councillor Britton Goudie has died at the age of 93.

Mr Goudie, who lived in Scone, served as a Liberal representative on the former Perth and Kinross District Council. When he won the Scone seat in 1985, he changed the political complexion of the formerly Conservative-dominated local authority.

Mr Goudie was a life-long Liberal and unsuccessfully represented the party for the Perth and East Perthshire seat in the 1979 General Election.

He held a degree of Master of Laws and specialised in international law. Away from work and politics, Mr Goudie was involved in the church, where he was a Methodist lay preacher and served the church and community by sitting on numerous committees.

Mr Goudie is survived by his wife Joan, daughter Fiona and sons Ian and Andrew.
