Teenagers coping with illness are being invited on to TV for a makeover

A TELEVISION company has put a call out for Big County teenagers suffering embarrassing illnesses to come forward.

Programme makers are specifically looking for 16-19-year-olds who suffer a huge amount of cultural stigma as a result of suffering from one of society’s more embarrassing illnesses.

The teens will then benefit from expert advice given by a variety of therapists including presenter Amanda Hamilton.

A Tern TV spokeswoman stressed: “We are not looking to poke fun at any of these illnesses. The show has built up a reputation of dealing very sensitively with the range of conditions we’ve covered.

“We want to highlight the profound physical and psychological effects these illnesses have on people, and we hope to break a few taboos in the process.”

Five teenagers will be selected for the television series which will see them have their illnesses treated in an intensive ‘health programme’ at a Spanish luxury health spa run by leading experts in holistic and alternative medicines.
