A DRUNKEN Alyth man, caught with a hunting knife in his pocket after being asked to leave a local pub, was fined £300 at Perth Sheriff Court.
The court heard that Arnold Crone (48), of Barony Park, had gone into the Alyth Hotel but was “quite drunk” and was asked to leave.
He did but stood speaking to two customers outside. They became aware that the accused had the weapon in his jacket.
Police were alerted and they found the weapon, in its sheath, in one of his pockets.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson said that Crone told police he planned to go hunting the following day.
Solicitor Cliff Culley said his client was the outdoor type and it was an “oversight” that he had it that night.
He accepted that having the weapon and being drunk was a serious matter.
Crone pled guilty to having the knife in Airlie Street, Alyth, and the Alyth Hotel, Commercial Street, on November 14.
Sentence had been deferred for social inquiry and community service reports.
