ISABELLA Blair (58), Springbank Road, Alyth, admitted a drink-driving charge when she appeared at Perth Sheriff Court this week.
The offence took place on January 24 in Airlie Street, Alyth, when Blair drove a car while almost twice the legal limit. A blood test showed her alcohol reading was 158mgs – the legal limit is 80mgs.
The offence was brought to light when a member of the public spotted the accused making a mess of a reversing manoeuvre outside a supermarket at 7.30pm.
The police were notified and traced Blair at her home some 45 minutes later, when she had difficulty providing specimens of breath so the blood test procedure was applied.
Blair, a care assistant at a local nursing home, was said by her agent to have been suffering from depression which led to alcohol-related problems at the time of the offence.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher fined Blair £500 and banned her from driving for a year.
