THE public have been asked to help with the investigation surrounding a car crash in Perthshire on Saturday morning.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the lead up to the accident, or the crash itself, which took place close to the turnoff for Lundie Castle on the A923 Coupar Angus to Birkhill road.

The accident involved a green Citroen Xsara and a silver Peugeot 106. Both cars were travelling eastwards at the time of the incident.

At about 11.20am on Saturday the silver Peugeot 106 left the road and collided with a tree.

The 20-year-old driver was trapped in the vehicle and Tayside Fire and Rescue, together with the ambulance service, worked to free the young man. He was then taken to Ninewells Hospital where he was kept in, having suffered back injuries, cuts and bruising

The area would have been busy at the time and police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either of the vehicles travelling eastwards to Coupar Angus.

Police are particularly keen to the trace the driver of a red Ford Galaxy travelling eastwards near to the scene at the time of the incident.

Contact Tayside Police on 0845 600 5705.
