Seven-year-old Peebles boy dies in A9 accident

A BOY killed in an accident on a Big County road on Friday night has been named as seven-year-old Benjamin Paton, from Peebles.

His father Allan (44) was taken to Dundee’s Ninewells hospital where he was treated for serious injuries after the two-car crash at the Tibbermore junction of the Perth-to-Stirling A9 at about 6.20pm.

Two other people involved in the incident were also taken to hospital.

Paramedics and a trauma team attended but there was nothing they could do for Benjamin who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tayside Police are aware that a number of individuals stopped at the scene to assist but left prior to the arrival of police.

As a result, any witnesses not already known to the police are being urged to them on 0845 600 5705.
