Olivia’s success is a team effort

A TEAM effort involving staff and P7 and P6 pupils of Goodlyburn Primary School in Perth gained top marks for their production of Olivia which played to packed audiences over two performances in the school hall last week.

Goodlyburn’s head-teacher Irene Thomson explained that Olivia was “a modern-day adaptation of Oliver with links to that time in history.” As well as characters from Charles Dickens’ novel, other famous names from that era popped up in this colourful home-grown production.

The show was co-ordinated by support for learning teacher Jacqui Bean. Other teachers taking lead roles in staging the production were P7 teachers Catherine Thomas and Jenny Martin, support for learning teacher Claire Mitchell and music specialist Fiona Ballantyne.

“This was an excellent team effort,” continued Mrs Thomson. “All the staff contributed and everybody in both classes were involved at some stage. The children made the props and stage design, did front of house duties and helped make some of the costumes.”

All their hard work was justly rewarded when Olivia played to audiences of over 100 on each of the performances.
