A PERTH primary school is gearing up for its centenary celebrations and is appealing to PA readers for help.
Balhousie Primary is believed to have been founded on October 31, 1908, and to mark the anniversary the school will host a number of activities in the week running up to the event itself.
As part of the celebrations, a photo exhibition will be held in the school.
The exhibition will display stills of Balhousie throughout its 100 year history.
Head Teacher Agnes Thomson is now calling on former pupils or anyone with pictures to come forward and donate them for the exhibition.
She told the PA: “We have a few pictures, but we need a few more so we’re asking anyone with any to let us borrow them for our exhibition.”
Other activities that are being planned will see pupils study the school during different periods of time in its history. Pupils will also learn and perform songs from the different eras. An open afternoon is also scheduled with members of the community welcome to join in the celebrations.
Pupils from the school are so far unaware of the plans to mark Balhousie’s 100th anniversary. But Ms Thomson believes they will be just as positive about the event as the staff currently are.
“We’re all very proud of the school because it’s fabulous,” she said.
“The children don’t know about the plans yet but the teachers and staff are quite excited, and the children will be when they get to know about it.”
If anyone has any pictures of Balhousie Primary School that they wish to donate, contact Agnes Thomson at the school on 01738 620046.
