Gym gear from doomed Healthworks will help local groups

PERTH and North Perthshire MP Pete Wishart has welcomed the announcement that much of the equipment from the doomed Healthworks facility is to be donated to various groups in the Perthshire area.

Perth and Kinross Leisure are to benefit from sports and fitness equipment for its leisure centres and local schools.

Morrison’s Academy, Crieff, is to receive gym equipment, which they will use to convert a storeroom into a gym at the school.

The 22nd St Matthew’s Scout Group, which comprises 100 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, will gain general sports equipment to help to assist with delivering a balanced programme of activities.

The ABC Nursery, in Rose Terrace, Perth, will get the complex’s board games and toys from Kids’ Club at Healthworks, while Scone Thistle YFC will inherit all the football equipment.

Mr Wishart said yesterday: “While many are still disappointed with events of recent months, I hope that the donation of this equipment will ensure that the relevant groups benefit.

“I am very glad Norwich Union decided to hold on to this equipment during these past months and decided to donate them to the people of Perth.

“This equipment will be well received and very much appreciated by these various groups.

“It is particularly generous that the Save the Healthworks Group, who have worked so hard to save the facility, will also benefit from this move.”
