PUPILS from Perth’s Goodlyburn Primary School have been visiting Perth College on a Wednesday to learn more about the hairdressing department. The P9MW children took these great pictures and sent in their own reports of the project.
“We got to wash each other’s hair and watched how to put rollers in. I got to spray a doll’s hair then used the hairdryer to dry the hair then after that we were allowed to use the straighteners to make the hair all straight.
When we get back to school we made letters inviting our mums and grannies to come into the Goodlyburn Hairdressers to get their hair done. That is happening tomorrow and my gran is coming and she is looking forward to it.’’

“The stylists first washed my hair and then they straightened my hair. My hair was so clean.
On the next week my friend Kerry came to visit the stylists and her hair was all curly.
We had to go to the salon again to learn about clean hair and how not to wash your hair all the time. After that another stylist, Summer, gave me a doll to do her hair and it was fun.
For the next visit we can let our mums visit for only £3. How cool is that!’’

“The first week we went, we were assistants and we had to wash our client’s hair. We used conditioner and shampoo. We had these mini showers, it was cool.
The second week me, Kerry Cantwell and Daniel Malcolm all got our hair done.
Kerry got her hair straightened. Daniel and I got our hair spiked.
The salon is really cool. It is black and red. There are really good mirrors and stuff.
We got to do a doll’s hair, it was well fun!
The people that did my hair were very funny. They were good at doing hair.
Thank you to the college for letting us come and see your cool new salon. We all loved it.’’

“First they wrote their CVs to the staff at the college so they could train to be assistants. The first week they were getting their hair done.
The second week they styled a dummy head. I got to style Nicole’s hair. Next week they get to style the parents’ and families’ hair.
I thought it was great. I might become a stylist one day.’’

“It was very interesting for us to learn how to style our hair. Ms McLaren and Mrs Watkinson helped us to get the opportunity to visit the brand new salon. The new salon is very interesting and looks like a proper salon.
We got to know all the first year students. They were very helpful to us.’’
