THE Grandtully Primary School pupil council organised a sponsored fun run in aid of testicular cancer last month.
Some parents were able to join the children in this fun, healthy event with some pupils managing to run two miles, and raising a staggering £513 for the cause.
All participants were rewarded with a well deserved drink and healthy snack at the finish.
Spring is definitely in the air and the children have been making a willow arch, and planting trees to form a pathway with the help of Jeannie Grant (Countryside Ranger).
The green house has had a spring clean and the children are planning which seeds they are going to sow, with some of them being planted in the school grounds (which are about to be redeveloped).
Christy Benning, Katrina Kennedy, Fraser Watson and Robert Calder represented the school in the Rotary Quiz.
Katrina Kennedy and Christy Benning both performed in the Flute Beginners class at Perform in Perth with Katrina being placed third equal.
Both girls have also recently performed in Central Groups concerts in the Concert Hall in Perth where they played to a packed audience, both enjoying the experience of the two events.
P4 pupils met with other primary 4 pupils within the cluster for a day of language, while primary 7 pupils took part in a similar day for maths. All pupils and staff involved found this a worthwhile day.
The school have been investigating forces and motion as part of their science programme and are grateful to Mrs Libreri and Dr Armstrong from Breadalbane Academy science department for all their help and time this term.
James Mcdonald, Christy Benning and Yvonne Kennedy, office bearers of the pupil council, went with Head Teacher Mrs McIntosh to meet local MSP John Swinney where they had an interesting time discussing all the new health and garden topics they are involved in for the rest of the school year.
Pupils took part in the Highland Perthshire eliminations for the schools orienteering competition at Dalguise with the team of Rory Oag, Robbie Calder and Hollie Carter coming fourth and will now go forward to represent the school in the area finals in May.
Cerrie Worrell, Hollie Carter and Katrina Kennedy have been over to the Heartland studio this week to record their broadcasting debut, which will be aired later this month, to inform the wider community of the schools plans and current projects which are on going as part of our Supergrounds project.
Five pupils represented the school in the area cross country championships at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth.
