Morrison’s gets positive report

MORRISON’S Academy has received a positive report following its recent inspection.

Inspectors, who visited the school in March of this year, praised the quality of children’s learning experiences in the nursery, emphasising the excellent progress they make in key aspects of their development and learning.

In primary, the inspectors noted that the high levels of attainment set in nursery are maintained. Most pupils make very good progress in reading, writing and mathematics.

In Morrison’s secondary, it was highlighted that young people in S1 and S2 make good progress across subjects and this helps them make appropriate choices for studies in S3. In S4 to S6, pupils perform very well in national examinations. Their attainment has been consistently above the national average and almost all go on to study at university.

The inspectors also recognised pupils’ good personal and social skills and the fact that children and staff work together well to create an atmosphere of mutual respect.

The school has also developed effective partnerships with parents, former pupils and the local and wider community.

The inspectors suggested a few areas for improvement, mainly focusing on a need to depart from more traditional teaching methods.
