YOUNGSTERS in Perth and Kinross have notched up a cabinet of trophies and success badges in a variety of events.
Local netball teams featured highly – notably Blairgowrie High School’s first year team who picked up a Silver award in the Scottish Secondary Schools Cup.
The finals day was held at Linwood Sports Centre and the girls reached the Silver final, beating Robert Gordons from Aberdeen 22–2.
Also, Errol Primary School netball team (P7) were also runners-up in the Primary 7 Netball Tournament 2008 held at Bell's Sports Centre.An Errol team also notched in as runners up in the Rural Schools Netball Competition.
Hill Primary Girls Team who won the Girls League and Hill Primary Mixed Team who won the Mixed League in the Perth and Kinross Primary Netball League.
Viewlands Primary 7 girls who made up Netball Team A and won the Inter-Schools Netball Tournament held in Bell’s Sports Centre.
Elsewhere, members of Northern Lites baton twirling development team – who train in Kinross – were successful in the British Baton Twirling Sports Association competition held in Meadowbank, Edinburgh, taking two first places and one third place.
In the great outdoors, four pupils – Joanne Murray, Roisin Butcher, Karen Brand and Richard McGuire – from Perth Grammar School completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the Trossachs.
They are the first-ever pupils to have completed the Supported Silver Award programme.
Finally, Perth Academy S2 pupils competed in the Dish of the Day cookery competition in the Home Economics Department where the winning dishes will become available in the school canteen.
Winner – Frederik Lyneborg served Italian meatballs with tagliatelle; runner-up Alexander Lamont made chicken in sauce with rice; and third place winner Olivia Houston prerpared chicken enchiladas.
The winner received a trophy and recipe book from judges Tayside Contracts, smoothie maker, recipe book and chef’s whites from school PSA fund.
All 10 finalists received a trophy and recipe book.
