Improvements have been made in the fingerprint service since the Shirley McKie controversy of recent years, international experts have said.
But some reservations remained in the verdict of a global trio on progress made in the Scottish Police Service Authority (SPSA) since work began to introduce a fingerprint action plan in 2006.
And SNP MSP Alex Neil, who campaigned on behalf of the McKie family, said that "considerable problems" still remain within the service.
