Economic growth target 'difficult'

The Scottish Government faces "difficult choices" in ensuring increased economic growth does not come at the expense of the environment and other areas, a report warned.

The SNP administration has set the target of having Scotland's growth rate matching the UK level by 2011.

But the Sustainable Development Commission Scotland - an independent body which advises the government - said ministers must reconcile economic growth with targets on other areas such as sustainability.
