School spending will be speeded up

Much of the £280 million in spending which the Scottish Government is bringing forward will be earmarked for new and refurbished schools, MSPs have heard.

Ministers also aim to speed up investment in transport infrastructure, fuel efficiency, and housing regeneration, said finance secretary John Swinney.

Mr Swinney said projects to address fuel poverty and energy efficiency will also be studied, and said the Government will consider improving further education buildings, "again concentrating on energy efficiency and in support of health service projects."
