26 MSPs employ their own relatives

More than two dozen MSPs have their own relatives on their Holyrood payroll, figures revealed.

A total of 26 MSPs - 11 SNP, 11 Labour, two Tories, and rwo Liberal Democrats - employ family members, according to a new register. The register is a requirement of a new scheme for MSPs' allowances.

No salary details were given, on confidentiality grounds. MSPs can claim up to £56,650 for employing staff.
