St Andrew's Day 'to help' economy

Holding major St Andrew's Day celebrations will put Scotland in a better position to tackle the economic downturn, the culture minister said.

Linda Fabiani said events to mark the day will raise the country's international profile and help attract more than 100,000 additional visitors over the next year.

Ms Fabiani said: "Given the global economic downturn, this year more than ever we need to promote Scotland as a great place in which to live, learn, work, do business, invest and visit.
