£360,000 donated to Congo appeal

Generous Scots have donated £360,000 in response to an urgent appeal to help save lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The sum was raised in just seven days after leading aid agencies issued a joint plea for public support for those affected by recent violence in the central African nation.

More than 250,000 people have been forced to flee their homes to escape the fighting in recent weeks, adding to more than one million displaced during the conflict.
