Backlog licence fears for pubs

Pubs and clubs could be forced to shut their doors if a massive backlog of new licences is not approved, an industry leader has said.

The Scottish Licensed Trade Association said local authorities had not begun to look at some applications lodged to comply with new government rules.

And the backlog could be made worse if the remaining traders keep putting off their applications, the association warned.
