Engineers work to fix gas supply

Engineers have been working to restore gas supplies to thousands of homes facing days without heating during a cold snap.

Around 3,000 homes in Kelso in the Borders and 70 in the village of Ednam lost their gas supply on Monday morning as temperatures hovered at around four degrees centigrade.

Pupils were sent home from Kelso High School, Broomlands Primary and Edenside Primary on Monday because there was no heating.
