Experts consulted over awards

Teaching experts are being asked for advice on the timing of new literacy and numeracy awards, education secretary Fiona Hyslop said.

But she said "early decisions" are needed in a proposed shake-up of the exam system for secondary pupils.

Ms Hyslop vowed to "consider carefully" more than 1,800 responses to a consultation on plans which would see standard grades and intermediates replaced with a new general qualification.
