Cash call to pay for electric buses

Councils should be given £15 million to help develop a fleet of pollution-free vehicles, Labour leader Iain Gray has said.

Of the 20,000-plus vehicles operated by Scotland's local authorities, just 23 are either electric or hybrid, Mr Gray said.

But he said this £15 million from Government - which would be matched with money from councils - will allow local authorities to buy 2,000 new electric vehicles.
