Female offender progress hailed

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill has praised efforts being made to prepare female offenders for freedom.

Mr MacAskill visited four prisoners at HMP Aberdeen who gain from college or family visits as part of re-integration to communities.

The Community Integration Unit, reopened last month, focuses on eligible low-supervision inmates approaching the end of their sentences.
