Figures show rise in unemployment

The number of Scots who are out of work has risen again, with the latest figures showing the jobless total has increased to 216,000.

While unemployment across the UK fell, the number of people north of the border who are not in work continued to grow.

The jobless total, which includes those who are out of work but not eligible for benefits, rose by 8,000 over the period from March to May.
