WITH Perth Leisure Pool fast approaching its 20th year, Perth and Kinross Leisure is planning a programme of essential maintenance and improvement works.
The work started yesterday, with a major refurbishment of the flume tower’s spiral steps, which will be removed for complete galvanisation and upgrading.
With the steps removed, the opportunity will be taken to sandblast and re-coat the central column, as well as itroduce graphics panels to enhance the overall appearance.
As part of the stepped programme of works, December 3 will then see the closure of the Monkey Jungle, Outdoor Lagoon and Leisure Water to enable the improvements to be completed ready for a healthy and active New Year.
During this time, the Training and Teaching Pool, Health Suite, Fitness Gym and Café Aqua will be open as normal.
From December 17, the centre will close its doors to complete the remainder of the maintenance work and will re-open during the festive period on December 27.
During this closedown period, intensive staff training will be undertaken and other service improvements will be put in place, aimed at ensuring the centre remains at the forefront of swimming facilities in Scotland and further builds on two decades of successfully providing for locals and visitors.
Jim Moyes, chief executive officer of Perth and Kinross Leisure, the charitable not-for-profit owners and operators of the centre, stated: “We are sure our planned maintenance work and service improvements for Perth Leisure Pool will mean our customers are able to look forward to an even more enjoyable experience in 2008.
“We will do everything possible to minimise any disruption to services and are confident that real improvements will result.
“Anyone requiring any additional information should not hesitate to contact the pool direct.
“It is hard to believe the centre will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and 10,000,000th customer in 2008, and we are planning to make this a memorable year.”
