WRINKLY rockers Asia will be turning the clock back when they appear in Perth this week.
The original line-up of the AOR rock ‘supergroup’, who play the Fair City’s Concert Hall on Thursday, have recently reformed to tour together for the first time since 1983.
Featuring members of classic rock titans Emerson Lake & Palmer, King Crimson, Yes and The Buggles, Asia’s eponymous debut album enjoyed considerable commercial success following its release in spring 1982, spending nine weeks at number one in the US charts.
Selling over four million copies in the US and more than 10 million worldwide, the album’s lead singles ‘Only Time Will Tell’ and ‘Heat of the Moment’ were massive hits.
In the summer of 1983, the track ‘Don't Cry’, from the follow-up LP ‘Alpha’, reached the UK top ten.
The band’s reunion tour marks the first time all four of Asia’s founder members - Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer and John Wetton - have played together since ‘83.
Fans can expect to hear all the established favourites plus selected highlights from the foursome’s individual careers - including rock radio staples ‘Roundabout’ (Yes), ‘In the Court of the Crimson King’ (King Crimson), ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ (Buggles) and ‘Fanfare For the Common Man’ (Emerson Lake and Palmer).
Tickets for the gig, which starts at 8pm, are available from 0845 612 6324.
