A CORDON was set up around a Perth restaurant on Friday after reports were received of falling masonry.
Tayside Fire and Rescue closed off a section of St John’s Place, around The Filling Station, while a turntable ladder was used to view the building from above.
Staff and customers in the restaurant were warned to stay inside or use a side entrance while investigations were carried out on the roof of the three-story building.
Firefighters accompanied by a council building control officer removed loose pieces of masonry and examined stonework from the roof of the building.
The street was re-opened after Fire and Rescue were satisfied the public were not in danger of anything falling from the roof.
Friday’s incident was only yards from the scene of a near fatal incident in 2000 when diners outside the Ring O’ Bells pub were struck and injured by falling masonry.
