Carroll retains Dundee half-marathon title

NOT even a wrong turn could prevent Mike Carroll from retaining his Dundee Half-Marathon title last week, run in terrible conditions.

Carroll, of the Perth Road Runners, completed the test with a time of 74 minutes, 17 seconds in heavy rain. However, he told PA Sport that his time would have been more impressive had he not got turned around.

“I actually went off course running the race,” he said.

“My time wasn’t up to much, I think I could have done it in sub-70 if I hadn’t taken a wrong turn.”

Mike is now looking for some “chill out” time away from racing, but has set his sights on the Glasgow Half-Marathon later on in the year.

He said: “I think I’ll do Glasgow in September but I don’t think I’ll have any more races this year.

“There are a few local races but it’s the big city races that get you motivated.”
