Fans reward veteran

SAINTS keeper Alan Main had his all-time appearance record commemorated by the club’s fans this week.

The 41-year-old surpassed the late Drew Rutherford’s long-standing mark of 345 outings for the Perth side whilst playing a key role as Derek McInnes’ men claimed the First Division title and sealed a return to the SPL.

Fans forum Weareperth kicked-off the campaign to have Main’s achievement’s recognised – with around 130 supporters signing a shirt which was presented to the two-times Saintee outside McDiarmid Park along with the unique trophy.

Paying tribute to the veteran custodian, Main’s manager Derek McInnes said: “It's clear there’s a great mutual respect between Alan and the fans.

“Everyone at the club is delighted he’s signed a contract with us for another year.

“He’s hungry to be playing on a regular basis, as are all our players, and I’m sure he’ll do well again for us next season,” he said.

Saints have asked PA Sport to remind supporters that they have until Tuesday (June 30) to snap-up discounted season ticket prices for the Fair City side’s first top-flight campaign in seven years.
