WEATHER has once again defeated the Eagles as all games this weekend have been postponed due to frost and snow.
The upside of this is that injuries to that dynamic duo of Craig Assenti and Erlend Oag will get a chance to heal and Ryan Hood can completely recover from his concussion.
Weather permitting the 1st XV will travel to Dumfries next weekend while the seconds will take on the might of Ayr.
At least one former Eagle, James Fleming will not need to concern himself with the cold at home.
Flembo – as he is known to his team mates – is presently relaxing in Dubai after being chosen to represent Scotland in the HSBC World Series Sevens.
The first tournament, the Emirates Airlines Dubai Sevens, takes place this weekend and the series culminates on the weekend of May 28–29 at Murrayfield where the world champions will be crowned.
Scotland could hardly have chosen a more difficult pool as they are grouped with Australia, South Africa and Russia but James is feeling good and on Wednesday scored a try against the awesome New Zealand VII in a warm up match.
Only two seasons ago, James was an SVQ with Perthshire Rugby Club and won the Premier III Player of the Season after some outstanding displays for the Eagles.
His elusive running, spectacular tries and overall performances have thrilled the crowds for many seasons at the North Inch but he has now progressed to the world stage.
He moved to Dundee High School FP where he established himself as the top points scorer in Scotland and has been rewarded with a semi pro contract with Glasgow Warriors.
The Perth-born youngster is delighted to be given the chance to compete at this level and has sent a message to his former team mates telling them he is missing them and will do his best to bring success for his country.
James has also represented Scotland in the club international at 15-a-side and all of Perthshire will be watching his progress with interest.
A good showing in the series will certainly help his prospects of appearing for Scotland in the 2012 Olympics.
