Peter Pawlett will play his last game on loan from Aberdeen tomorrow against Inverness — unless the Dons agree to extend his stay.
Despite his injury woes, when he has featured in the line-up the winger has given the Perth team an added dimension with his pace, directness and crossing.
Lomas admitted that while club and player are keen to extend the loan through to the summer, it won’t be their call.
“We would love to keep Peter but that is down to Aberdeen in the next few days,” he said. “I had a brief chat with Craig Brown because we would love to have him here through to the end of the season.
Peter would like to stay but it is their decision to make,.”
Lomas again rang the changes for the Tayside derby and hinted at further tweaks over the next two games before the January break, with Inverness in the city tomorrow and Dundee visting on Wednesday (2pm kick-off).
Chris Millar and Callum Davidson were spared duty at Tannadice and Lomas said: “Tam Scobbie was unlucky to be left out at Aberdeen and, with the pitch being so heavy in Dundee, we decided to leave Callum out against United.
“It is good to have competition. That is what I want.”
