Teenager Joe wins four gold medals at Scottish swimming championship

STRATHALLAN pupil Joe Lipworth won an outstanding six medals - four gold and two silver - at the Scottish National Open Championships in Glasgow.

Fourteen-year-old Joe swam in six races achieving gold medals in the 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley as well as silver medals in the 100m back crawl and 100m freestyle.

Joe has had a successful season and currently features in the top ten UK rankings in five different categories.

He achieved medals in three events at the National Age Group Championships and two gold medals at the Westhill Invitational Championships earlier this year.

In the next few weeks Joe will be training twice a day in preparation for the GB Nationals being held in Sheffield from July 24–27.
