DAY fishing has been much better than evening fishing this past week. Some good rises have been seen in the evening but the fish have been very hard to catch.
Day fishing on the other hand has been much better on the quieter day's static buzzer have probably been the most productive method, but black and silver lures, along with the usual Kate McLaren and various snatchers fished with Di 5 and Di7 lines are catching fish.
The water clarity is 2.9 meters and water temperature at 15.7°C.
Weed growth took a big "jump" this past week with some areas i.e. The Hole '0' The Inch all but unfishable due to the huge amount of weed, but as mentioned in previous reports it's great to see. Algae will no doubt appear as the "summer"? progresses.
Best areas – Front of Castle Island to Reed Bower, South Deeps opposite Gairney Mouth, North Shore (Green Isle to Old Manse and the West Shore North Quiech along to the Factors Pier.
We need to get some good settled weather for the evening fishing to improve.
There have been some reasonable hatches of buzzers on some nights, with one angler coming in tearing his hair out, after covering fish for almost an hour and nothing to show for his efforts!
