Football: Hampden Park thrill for Perth fan

OWEN Horne (10) from Perth fulfilled his sporting dream by escorting his football heroes out onto the pitch for the recent friendly between Scotland and Argentina at Hampden Park.

Owen was given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a Player Escort and lead out the teams courtesy of McDonald’s, the Scottish FA’s Official Community Partner.

The Player Escorts for the game were chosen after winning a national competition aimed at giving Scotland’s grassroots footballers a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Owen was joined at the game by his family, who watched on with pride as their son led out some of the country’s most talented players before the game that finished 1-0 to Argentina.

Owen said: "Walking out on to the pitch with the players was amazing; it’s an experience that I’ll never forget. I wish I could do it at every Scotland game, and I couldn't wait to get back to school to tell my friends about it.”
