Volleyball: Top form in second round of the Recreation League

THE second round of Recreational League fixtures took place at Bell’s Sports Centre last Sunday evening.

The opening fixture on court one saw Tayside Police make their league debut against Rodney‘s Trotters and it was Trotters’ experience which helped them triumph by two sets to love.

On court two, Motley Crew took on Tay Pearls and this was a close affair with Pearls defending well but not well enough to go down 25–19, 8–7, with luck evading Pearls in this one.

It was the PE teachers turn to play Tay Pearls next with the result being inconclusive. PETS won the first set 25–16 but the Pearls led 19–14 in the second when full time was called.

Scotrange II played Tayside Police. Kat Thomson’s Kinross side edged the first set 25–22 and the second set also went to Scotrange with a 24–17 scoreline.

Ray McIntosh and his Aberfeldy side opened their evening against Stuart Anderson's Hitting Bricks and stormed the first set 25–8. The Bricks lost out 25–20 in the second set giving Aberfeldy top points.

Scotrange and PETS met on court one with the Kinross side edging the first set 25–22. The second set was poised at 16 points and it was Scotrange who led 19–16 at full time.

Mike Skicko's Dunfermline met Aberfeldy and the young Fifers won the game by two sets to love.

Next on court one, Kinross Boys and Girls Brigade met Kinross BB. The BB side had an easy first set win by 25–6 and the second set also went their way 25–8.

This Sunday sees the Premier teams back in action: 7pm – Volley Mixtures v Dodgy Spikers (Mongrels); Dunfermline v Mental Blocks (Kintronics); 7.45 – Volley Mixtures v Scot Range (Dodgy Spikers); Dunfermline v Kintronics (Hitting Bricks); 8.30 – Dodgy Spikers v Mongrels (Scot Range); Mental Blocks v Hitting Bricks (Dunfermline); 9.15 – Scot Range v Mongrels (Volley Mixtures); Hitting Bricks v Kintronics (Mental Blocks).
