THE Perth and District Premier League volleyball teams met at Bell's Sports Centre for the final fixtures of the year before the festive holiday break.
Stuart Anderson's Hitting Bricks' side were the only side with maximum points before Sunday and they opened on court A against Karen Crockart's Volleymixtures who opened brightly.
Hitting Bricks then found their form to take the set 25-22.
The second set again saw Volleymixtures take the early initiative but again Bricks sealed the gaps in their defence to finish 25-19 ahead taking the maximum 10 points.
It was derby time on court two as Mike Skicko's Dunfermline played Craig Donaldson's Kinross Scotrange. The first set was very close but the Kinross side edged ahead and only just deserved their 25-23 win.
The second set was equally close with the game poised at 18 points each. Again Scotrange just edged ahead to seal victory at 25-19.
John Robertson's Mental Blocks took on Chris White's Mongrels next on court one. Mongrels took an early lead but Blockers got their act together to score 11 points without reply to see them on their way to a 25-15 win.
The second set saw Blockers continue where they left off to score a surprisingly easy 25-11 win.
League leaders Hitting Bricks then played Dunfermline.
The league leaders looked the part in the early stages but a thrilling fightback from the Fife side saw them level things at 18 points each.
The final flurries saw Bricks in the ascendancy as they finished the set 25-19 ahead.
The second set saw the Fifers' challenge wane with Bricks having a comfortable 25-15 win to consolidate their position at the top of the league.
John Booth's Kintronics were next on court one against Mental Blocks.
Blockers won the first set very comfortably 25-10 but the second set saw the Kinross side come out flying to lead 15-3 before coming unstuck, losing eventually 23-25.
Nikki McWilliams' Dodgy Spikers played Kinross Scotrange on court two and the Kinross side stormed the first set 25-12.
The second set saw Spikers competing more for every ball but Scotrange still proved too strong winning 25-17.
The final game on court one saw Volleymixtures play Mongrels and this proved to be the closest fought game of the evening.
The first set was poised at 23 points each with Mixtures doing just enough to scramble victory 25-23. The second set was much like the first with Mixtures again edging victory by 25 points to 23.
Court two's final game was between Dodgy Spikers and Kintronics.
The first set was very close with Karen Ross and Scott Walker helping Spikers to a narrow 25-23 score. The second set again saw Spikers finish on top to win 25-17.
