ALL three of the Perth Phoenix National League teams are in action this Saturday, with each facing difficult opponents.
The Cadet Men make the long trek up to Ellon to take on Donald Russell Flyers (tip off 1.20pm) and will hope to maintain their undefeated record in Division Two.
It will not be an easy fixture, as Flyers are the team most likely to challenge Perth’s league title hopes.
Phoenix will need to work hard in defence and ensure they convert a high percentage of offensive opportunities.
The Junior Men are the only team to have a home fixture, facing Division One league leaders Falkirk Fury, with the game starting at 3pm.
Unfortunately Perth will have to play without influential captain Daniel Ghamgosar, who has broken his wrist.
The Cadette Women travel through to Portobello to take on City of Edinburgh Kool Kats (tip off 11am).
It will be essential that Phoenix start the game confidently – particularly in defence – and do not allow Kool Kats to build any kind of appreciable lead.
Following a series of trials, eight members of the club have been selected for Scotland training squads:
U18 Junior Men – Jamie Summerton; U17 Junior Men – Joel Fraser and Ben Warrington; U16 Cadet Men – Jamie Wilson; U16 Cadette Women – Katy Brown, Rachel Cathro, Lisa Mackie and Corrie Tadden-Paterson.
Head Coach, Russel Kesson, said: “The club is delighted for those selected and I am sure that all of them will benefit from being involved in the respective national squads and the specialist coaching they will receive.”
