Curling: Sunday finale for top players

PERTH is playing host to some of the world’s top curlers.

Action got under way yesterday in the Ramada Perth Masters and reaches a climax on Sunday.

It’s a great chance for local sports fans to watch elite players at close quarters.

The largest ever field of Canadian stars has made the trans-Atlantic journey, with a £15,000 prize pot for a prestigious tour event.

Thirty-two teams went into the draw, with David Murdoch’s recently crowned European champions among the favourites.

But with Euro, world and Olympic veterans all competing, the Ramada Master is regarded as one of the toughest competitions in world curling.

A string of local rinks are also bidding to make Sunday’s finale at the Dewars Centre.
