THE final games of the year took place at Bell’s Sports Centre just before Christmas and the title race is still closely contested with John Booth’s Kinross BB just leading Craig Skicko’s Dunfermline.
The opening game on court one saw Chris White’s Mongrels play Martin Blacklaws’ PE Teachers. The PE teachers caned their opponents 25–17; 14–8 to record a well deserved victory.
On court two Gary Birrell’s Hitting Bricks had a close game against Anne Condliffe’s Tay Pearls. The first set went Hitting Bricks’ way 25–19 but the second set saw a more solid Tay Pearls as they established a 6–1 lead which, despite a Bricks’ fightback saw them 12–10 ahead at full time.
Mongrels then met Tay Pearls next on court one and it was Pearls who were in complete control winning 25–9; 15–8. Douglas Ogilvie’s Tayside Police played PETS on court two as both league newcomers met for the first time. It was the PE teachers who triumphed this time round but the Police team is starting to come good and they will get better still. PETS won the game 25–10; 25–12.
Alice Eade’s Kinross BGB played Rodney’s Trotters next on court one and Trotters gained the upper hand 25–16; 25–18. Hitting Bricks and Tayside Police played their second games of the evening and although the Police side lost out again the second set was a much closer fought affair. Bricks won 25–11; 24–21.
League leaders Kinross BB then played Rodney’s Trotters and kept up their title challenge with a 25–12; 21–18 victory. Main challengers Dunfermline kept up their challenge with a 25–12; 22–21 win over Ian McGrath’s Motley Crew.
Ray McIntosh’s Aberfeldy played Kinross BGB next on court one winning 25–14; 18–12.
On court two the two Kinross teams met: Kinross BB and Kinross Scotrange II. The league leaders did just enough to snuff out their local opponents 25–15; 29–14.
The final game on court one saw Motley Crew overcome Motley Crew 25–21; 16–12 while on court two Dunfermline kept up their challenge defeating Scotrange II 25–19; 20–12 to stay a close second.

7.45 – Mental Blocks v Scotrange (Volleymixtures); Mongrels v Hitting Bricks (Dunfermline).
8.30 – Volleymixtures v Dunfermline (Kintronics); Mental Blocks v Dodgy Spikers (Scotrange).
9.15 – Mongrels v Kintronics (Dodgy Spikers); Scotrange v Hitting Bricks (Mental Blocks).
